Boston Rails work/Meeting Railers

#1

Hey all,

Been working with/excited about Rails since November, when I quit
working for The Man in order to freelance. Have a couple of Rails
projects completed. Having worked with web app dev since 1999, it’s
been a breath of fresh air. Now I’m at a point where I need to meet
more people in person that are excited about Rails, or are interested
in working on Rails projects in the same geographic location in order
to exchange ideas/discoveries/vibe/grab a beer (I’m realizing I’m not
really down with the “loner” aspect of freelancing… and
#rubyonrails, and this list, only go so far…) I’m also sort of
looking for more Rails work (project, contract, full-time if the
opportunity is good). I live in Boston. Any pointers appreciated!

I did go to the local Ruby meetup here last week, which was great, but
discussing Rails was vaguely discouraged in order to stay on-topic. I
don’t think there’s a solid Rails group nearby yet (which is a little
odd, as I’m sure a good percentage of Boston-area startups are using
Rails…)

If this is the wrong venue to pitch this, I apologize in advance.
Happy coding to all of you, and may all your ideas kick ass, amen.

Hey Peter, it seems that you might want to get into contact with
some of the attendees at the Ruby on Rails course in the Boston
area. Thus, you might want to check the following site:

Just want to chime in and say I’m also near Boston (well, central MA)
and am looking for something solid to do with Rails. I’ve chatted with
Peter a little (on the IRC channel). I have noticed that the RoR
course in Boston is full… I did look into it, but was initially
turned off by the price tag - being semi-independantly employed (read:
without full time job  ). But when I thought it may be worth it
anyway, saw it was too late.

A meet up could be a good time - let’s not let the left-coasters have
all the fun!

There’s an existing Boston.rb (that enjoys working on/with Rails).

You should take a look at:

 http://lists.rubygroup.org/mailman/listinfo/boston

I’m sure they’d love to see you there.
