Anyone have any experience with this device

I tripped over this today:

http://www.mirics.com/fm_files/Mirics_MSi3101_June10.pdf

Looks a little like a FunCube dongle, but with a larger device-to-host
bandwidth.

Anyone have any experience/more information about this device?

I’ve been tracking that outfit for a number of years now (even mentioned
them on the list a few times). They don’t respond to requests for info
and don’t appear to have actually released any products over that time.
I’m guessing that they’re goal is to sell chips & software IP to OEMs
for products targeted at high-volume consumer applications and they’re
not interested in research/hobby stuff.

Hmmm, OK.

So I should not expect to receive a reply from them at all?

I never heard back from them. YMMV. If you do I’d certainly be
interested in learning more - it looks like useful stuff.

Indeed, it looks like a FunCube Dongle, but with enough bandwidth to
support applications like NTSC analog TV. That makes it
very interesting, and given a likely sub-$10 BOM cost, remarkably
cheap as well.

The dongle is available from England see

They export world wide.

Yup, I’m very much aware of the FCD, although others on this list might
not be.

But this Miric 3101 thing appears to be a digital tuner with much higher
host-side bandwidth than the FCD, which makes it
more-than-passing interesting.
