Any type of Content Management System on Rails?

I am searching for some Ruby on Rails Content Management System, and I
would like to compare with other PHP Content Management Systems.

Hi

Mostly All Rails CMS are listed here
http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/Ruby+on+Rails+based+CMS you can
check them out…AFAIK none of them are developed in a gr8 way…I mean
there is no single CMS which is providing each and every capablity which
should be there in a RAils project…

Thanks

Hi John,

I think that you’ll be disappointed by the feature sets of the rails
CMS’s compared to PHP. The PHP projects are quite a bit older & are much
more mature.

Although lovdbyless & the community plugin, whilst not strictly being
CMS’s provide a social network/blog straight out of the box with a
feature set that exceeds the PHP CMS’s - for the social networking side
of things.

Having battled with Joomla for a bit… I think the Rails way would be to
build it yourself.

Building it yourself means your not constrained by what someone else
thinks you needs. The flipside is you need to have the chops to develop
what you want.

Restful authentication, Restful scaffolding, layouts, plugins, & the
mentioned above make it possible to build something quite quickly.

On the ruby on rails home page there is a screencast of someone building
a blog in 15 minutes. Its not very pretty & its not something I would
ever put into production use, but you get the idea of rapid development.

Thanks a lot for your help. I need to build a general CMS for all my
projects. I know that do some type of CMS for each of my projects would
be so easy, but make it general can need some more time.

Actually, a lot depends on what you want to achieve - if you’re looking
at a dynamic replacement for a mostly static site, Radiant does very
very well! There are ways to extend it using Extensions so that you can
add whatever functionality is needed. However, there are a few things
that are missing compared to Drupal or Joomla.

Cheers,
Mohit.
