[ann] Net::SMS::BulkSMS 0.1

This is the first release of a new Ruby library for the
www.bulksms.co.ukAPI which should allow simple integration of SMS
functionality into your
Ruby or Rails apps.

Sending a message is as simple as:

@service = Service.new(‘username’, ‘password’)
@service.send_message(‘This is my message!’, ‘4479123456789’)

whats my account balance now?

puts @service.account.credits

This is my first open source release ever, so I hope somebody finds use
for
it. I put it together as I needed SMS functionality for another
forthcoming
open source Rails app called SiteSeer which can be found on Rubyforge
and is
due for a first release soon.

Sounds great! Where can we get it? :slight_smile:

Oh dear…you know, I’m not the first person to forget the URL, and I’m
sure
I won’t be the last :wink:

Anybody knows of a good/cheap SMS gateway here in the US? All the ones I
seem to find are in the UK or somewhere else in Europe.

Thanks,

AEM

Thanks! Didn’t notice that.

AEM

I didn’t realise there was a US version. I’ll make sure there is support
for
the US gateway in the next release.

http://usa.bulksms.com is the US part of the UK company first mentioned.

So there is. Scratch that then, I’ll work support in for all countries
for
the next release.

How about Australia? Any good/cheap SMS gateways here?

Just starting to look at hooking SMS notifications to one of my apps
now…

Thanks in advance

Dave M.

I tried both bulksms and clickatell…

I have experienced less latency with clickatell (sms to Denmark)

I’ve integrated with clickatell in the US and directsms here in
Australia.

My simple directsms implementation is available here:
http://svn.aviditybytes.com/rails/libs/direct_sms/

Other aussie options are Legion Interactive and messagemedia.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter who they use… they pretty much all
provide the same thing. There’s no “wrong” choice… just look for
the ones with the most applicable services and price. They will all
have a SOAP/HTTP API you call to send/recieve messages.

Tim, that’s awesome. Just what I am looking for - will give it a go!

Is anybody aware of a cheap service that delivers to Germany?
