[ANN] Graphics World - New Rails app live

Hey guys,

Just launched a new Rails app:
http://www.graphics-world.com

Completely rewritten in/with RoR - it was an impulse project, I wanted
to try Rails! I’ve spent the entire day today fighting with
mongrel/apache but I think it’s stable now.

What do you think, comments/suggestions? :slight_smile:

I know I’ll be poking around your site in the next few days.

BTW… What host are you using? I’m about to launch something myself &
am trying to get all the advice I can.

I’m actually using a ‘Basic VPS I’ plan from LiquidWeb at the moment.
($60/month) Very solid, I customized it to the extreme though.

I’m going to post some info on how to secure/prepare a VPS box for a
Rails installation hopefully tomorrow - it’s something I’ve done a
number of times (well, maybe not for Rails, but close enough) but I
havenâ??t seen it covered for Rails application deployment yet. Maybe it

I’m not sure what you mean by Rails image/graphics tools? Adding
tutorials in general? If so, then sure - GW is not a “Photoshop only”
site, it just so happens that a majority of the tutorials are for
Photoshop at the moment (though I think I’ve got one of the best
collections of Illustrators tutorials in there also).

If I’m misinterpreting you, let me know :slight_smile:

Yes. I was thinking about Rails tutorials focusing on image/graphics
tools
like RMagic, Gruff, etc.
