[ANN/ADV] "Rails Routing" from Addison-Wesley

Hi –

I’m very pleased to announce the appearance of the Addison-Wesley
“short cut” (PDF/electronic book), “Rails Routing”, written by me.
You can get more information and order “Rails Routing” at:
http://safari.awprofessional.com/9780321509246

The book includes coverage of:

  • The basic workings of the routing system
  • Custom routes
  • Named routes
  • RESTful routing
  • Testing routes
  • Examining routes in the console and with plugins

Reviewer Tim K. says:

David A. Black, also the author of “Ruby for Rails”, does a
masterful job of explaining both the technical details of Rails
Routing and the philosophical or conceptual principles behind route
creation.

Enjoy!

David

P.S. The review also mentions that the example source code wasn’t
available yet, but it’s now (re)done (after a disk crash/version
control problem I don’t want to talk about  and will be made
available by the publisher shortly.

Q. What is THE Ruby book for Rails developers?
A. RUBY FOR RAILS by David A. Black (Ruby for Rails)
(See what readers are saying! http://www.rubypal.com/r4rrevs.pdf)
Q. Where can I get Ruby/Rails on-site training, consulting, coaching?
A. Ruby Power and Light, LLC (http://www.rubypal.com)

David,
I’ve written you a number of times asking about topics in your Ruby
for Rails book. I’ve never once received a reply.

Maybe that’s because he’s a busy guy and you aren’t using the proper
channels?

Manning has a forum just for that:

Maybe I’m not looking in the right place, but this URL doesn’t seem to
offer any means of buying a copy of “Rails Routing”. All I see is the
“opportunity” to subscribe.

I’d love to have a copy of this book, but I’m completely uninterested in
reading it on the web for 19.95 a month or 39.95 a month.

What am I missing?

I don’t seem to have received any email from you. We should probably
track it down off-list, but I’ll just mention here that you can see
the whole table of contents for R4R at the publisher’s site for the
book:

Ruby for Rails

  • Custom routes
    creation.
    available by the publisher shortly.
