A shell provider's choice of Ruby IRC bots and bouncers

I have a friend who runs a server providing IRC services like Eggdrop
and psyBNC. Wait! I’ve told him time and time again that there’s no
money (nor prestige) in this type of business, but he won’t listen.

Since he’s such a great guy, however, I’ve decided the least I can do is
to modernize his network and replace his decades old C binaries with
some fresh new Ruby scripts.

Can anybody recommend me any decent alternatives to Eggdrop and psyBNC?
So far I figured I’d replace Eggdrop with Autumn Leaves. Is this a wise

There are so many IRC applications on Rubyforge, maybe somebody has
already tested them all and could share their results with me?

All the best,
