A Ruby Wish for 1.9.3

Encoding becoming entirely optional.

How awesome would that be for me? My old .rb scripts that currently work
under 1.8.x would work on 1.9.x without me having to do any
modifications.

I am a dreamer. Of course some helpful souls will give me advice, but oh
no.

I know my wish.

As it won’t become real, I thus wish I could jump back in time …

Ruby was better without 1.9.x

There.

I said it.

I agree. I’m staying with 1.8 for as long as it lives on.

For other reasons, I’ve been doing some maintenance on a django+python
app. There are some things annoying about python, but some I rather
like. If I were forced to move from ruby to python, I think I could
cope.

Do you run into problems? I feared I would run into tons of them but
don’t seem to run into many…
