If you're debating about cluttering the design with an extra button, I
might suggest making an inconspicuous (or perhaps invisible?) link
with an accesskey attribute. This way, you could prevent it from
cluttering things up, but make it available for those who want to use
it. (I for one would find it a big time-saver.)

At any rate, I would raise both hands for the save-and-continue
functionality. One of the things I hate about editing anything in the
browser is the cumbersome save process.

Another approach might be to just have one save button, but have it
act like save-and-continue. This is what Textpattern does, and I like
the approach pretty well. Perhaps it could even be a configurable
option.
