Forum: Ruby ruby-talk-ctl doesn't let me unsubscribe using UTF-8

Announcement (2017-05-07): www.ruby-forum.com is now read-only since I unfortunately do not have the time to support and maintain the forum any more. Please see rubyonrails.org/community and ruby-lang.org/en/community for other Rails- und Ruby-related community platforms.

OK. I'd like to follow the list in archives, instead of my inbox.
I've been trying to unsubscribe. I've Read The Fine Manual [1], and
used Google frequently, but to no avail.

Every time I send a message to ruby-talk-ctl@ruby-lang.org, with
"unsubscribe" in the body I get back a message saying "your mail has
no effective commands".

I've tried FML(#unsubscribe, #exit), I've tried regular "unsubscribe",
I've tried with the footer and without. I've always sent in plaintext
(not html) as far as I know. My character encoding is set to UTF-8 in
gmail.

Once I switched gmail back to "default text encoding", it accepted the
unsubscribe command (I obviously resubscribed to send this). I
figured I'd send this to the list so that it was documented for anyone
else that had trouble unsubscribing from the list.

Thanks for running an excellent list. I'll continue to enjoy it
through the archives.

Our list server doesn't take base64 encoded mails. We have to
document it somewhere. Thank you.
