ICONV and REXML

Hi all. I’m having trouble getting REXML to play nicely with an RSS feed
that uses an encoding type called WINDOWS-1250.

My application works when I comment out the references to the lines that
utilize the REXML library.

After visiting my app and being told that Rails could not start
properly, my
server.log file says:

FastCGI: comm with server “/var/www/hflv/public/dispatch.fcgi” aborted:
error parsing headers: malformed header ‘no such file to load –
rexml/encodings/WINDOWS-1250.rb’

Now, I’ve search my system and that file doesn’t exist ANYWHERE.

I’m pretty stumped. Anyone been here before or have any ideas?

While they’re not quite the same, you’ll probably have the best luck
with CP-1252.rb.

Hmm… The feed I’m trying to parse specifically uses Windows-1250 as
its
encoding type. E.g.:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1250" ?>

Is there a way I can override that on my end before trying to parse it?
(I
guess I can look into that.)

Thanks for the suggestion Alex.
