Hello all,

My name is Aleks. I have only been in Pittsburgh for a few short weeks.
I have lived outside the United States for the past seven years working
as an international journalist. I am about to jump off the high diving
board into a career change to IT, specifically Ruby and I sure could use
some help from any of you in acquainting me with experiences and
opportunities that might make this possible. I have gone through several
online tutorials and books on Ruby and Rails, but I find it best to
learn by doing and collaborating on projects. I will also be attending
the Steel City Conference here in Pittsburgh later this month.
(http://steelcityruby.org/). I am a quick learner and have strong
commitment to doing this. Please feel free to write me back to learn
more about me, my skills and my interests and allow me to convince you
that I might be helpful in contributing to some of YOUR needs as you
graciously help me with MY goals and objectives.

Regards,

Aleks

Hi,

there may be other topics about it or some other useful links but I
always
see this as a good place to start
