Hi,

I'm trying to build ruby 1.9.3-p286 on PC-BSD, but it hangs while
trying to generate the Makefile during the 'configure' step for some
reason. Here's the output:

And the last line there is where it hangs. Any ideas?

Though it may or may not help you I have a jail with the rails stack
installed with rvm using clang on FreeBSD 9.x without issue. Though I
didn't have issues with 1.9.2 on 8.x

Since your system is hanging in the checking stage it most likely not
an issue with ruby. You may want to ask upstream with the PC-BSD folks
and look further there.

Also since you didn't actually post an error it really is not that
helpful to post just the compiler dump where no error message is
recieved. Save some bandwidth and post your uname instead.

Can we confirm that it fails on PC-BSD but works on Freebsd?

Because PC-BSD, as far as I know, builds on Freebsd, so this would be
strange.

The latest version in ports is ruby-1.9.3-p194

The OP hasn't given enough details on what he did because he
definitely didn't use the ports system
