He was a poet,
but he did not know....
Ruby.

However

This is how Hallaj said, I am God,
and told the truth!
The ruby and the sunrise are one.
~ Rumi

I double checked it was Rumi, not Matz.

I wouldn't say so. Perfectly find to say he didn't know it.

Now they asked me to read a poem
At the sorority sister's home
I got knocked down and my head was swimmin'
I wound up with the Dean of Women
Yippee! I'm a poet, and I know it.
Hope I don't blow it.

Ooops, I meant to preface this by saying it's from a Bob Dylan
