Freelance Rails Developer Wanted

Hello,

I hope it’s ok to be posting this here.

I’m looking for an experienced Rails developer to take on a fairly
simple project and possibly many others in the future. I have the
entire project written down and I’m looking to start ASAP.

I don’t care where you live or what times you work as long as you
really understand Rails and remain reliable during the development
process.

Hi. My name is Jamey C… I saw your message on the Rails mailing
list and decided to respond.

I have 20+ years experience in I.T., mostly as a programmer. For the
last 3 years I have been programming in Ruby. Perhaps the best example
of my Ruby skills is KirbyBase
(http://netpromi.com/kirbybase_ruby.html), a pure-ruby dbms.

For the last year and a half, I have been working with Rails. In
addition to developing three intranet Rails apps for my day job, I have
been moonlighting as a Rails developer for a California-based web
development firm. One example of my Rails work is a web app for a real
estate agency (http://brownandco-sf.com). I am currently working as
part of a team re-writing an e-commerce app in Rails for an on-line
retailer (http://store.gspotcenter.com). Additionally, I am building a
Rails intranet app for an advertising agency in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I am based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and am very comfortable
working remotely.

Between my day job and my side work, I am pretty booked up right now,
but I’m seriously contemplating quitting my day job and working for
myself full time. With that in mind, I thought I would contact you to
get more details about your present project and possible future
projects.

Actually, at this point I don’t really care! I currently work at one of
those big corporations where you have meetings to discuss having
meetings and terms like “concept document” and “metrics” echo off the
walls. To be honest, the opportunity to do Rails work on the side,
where it’s just you and your client, and they don’t care about corporate
mumbo-jumbo, just results, has helped keep me sane over the last year
and a half. :slight_smile:
