ESP are looking for Ruby on Rails developers to join us in establishing and running the back-end software for a range of diverse new media formats. The first phase of these formats has been developed by ThoughtWorks, and is considered by them to be one of their most exciting software projects. We are looking for a highly effective Tech Lead to build out our existing proposition and support us in building our developer team. POSITION: FULL TIME PERMANENT SALARY: £60,000 - £80,000 depending on experience Sign on bonus LOCATION: CENTRAL LONDON STARTING: asap 1. THE ROLE To provide technical and process leadership for a team of developers who will deliver the ongoing functionality to support the live formats and be developing new functionality to launch new formats. The approach is Agile and the turnaround of functionality is fast. We have built the product and in position to stage 1 and need to continue the development effort with an in house team. We are using Ruby in a rails framework with Merb and an HTML front end with Flash components. 2. REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate for this position: • Multi skilled and able to take the holistic view across the team. A background spanning back end, front end and database design and build (Ruby, PHP, Java, MySQL, XHTML/CSS, Ajax) • Able to get involved in the day to day coding and to bring a leadership perspective • Experience in mobile based applications • Enjoys working with Agile processes and development methods • Excellent at managing a development process to deliver high quality code fast • Systems administration, deploying Merb on a variety of Linux environments • Experience of modern restful development • Experience GIT or Subversion 3. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES • Transition the development process and code from an external development party to an in house • Lead and manage a team of developers • Report on a regular basis to the business progress, risks and status • Work with the CTO to manage the live environment • Work with the Product Owner to prioritise and estimate tasks • Take a technology lead and make decisions Enrich Social Productions develops, licenses and distributes next generation entertainment formats that operate across Internet, mobile, and TV.
