I have managed to compile Ruby on AIX 5.3 and have run my application
successfully on it. I have to go thru some series of simple steps to
achieve the same. I have tried to document the same for the benefit
of others.

Cheers,
Karthik.

I have been running Ruby 1.8.6 on AIX 5.3 ML5 with IBM openssh
4.3.0.5301 and openssl 0.9.7l-1 for several months now and all work
great. I have hit a wall though with IBM’s security fix for openssh
4.5.0.5302 that requires 0.9.8.4 open ssl. I have been struggling with
the ssl libraries. Ruby can not resolve the link in the compile. Any
ideas as to what I may have missed would be appreciated.

Thanks,
