Has anyone managed to install ruby-odbc on a shared linux host (non-root
access)?

Generally the standard is to configure using a --prefix option
(–prefix=$HOME/local/project) to set the install/configuration
locations for a project but ruby-odbc seems pretty adamant to try to
install to the “standard” locations.
