Hey everybody,

I’m very new with Ruby On Rails and I’m trying to set up a website with
a simple login/register system using the restful\_authentication plugin.

After having carefully followed the instructions, when trying to
register a new user, I get the following error:

NoMethodError in Users#new

Showing app/views/users/new.html.erb where line #7 raised:

undefined method `login’ for #\<User id: nil, name: nil, created\_at: nil,
updated\_at: nil\>

Extracted source (around line #7):

4: \<%= error\_messages\_for :user %\>
5: \<% form\_for :user, :url =\> users\_path do |f| -%\>
6:

\<%= label\_tag ‘login’ %\>

7: \<%= f.text\_field :login %\>

8:
9:

\<%= label\_tag ‘email’ %\>

10: \<%= f.text\_field :email %\>

I’m not really sure of what I should do, because there is no login
method in the user controller…

Thanks a lot in advance!

Don’t waste your time. restful\_authentication is garbage: it relies on
unmaintainable generated code and is hard to use. Use Authlogic or
something of similar quality.

Alright, I’ll try it. Thanks a lot!
