Often I want to open a port on my laptop for others to test. Does anyone
know
how, without dumping the entire Apple firewall, I can open ports in the
81-89 and 8000-8999 range?

## Thanks

You can enter port ranges in the OS X firewall configuration.

Just go to Sharing -\> Firewall in System Preferences,
and hit “New…”, and select “Other…” from the popup.

Then enter 81-89,8000-8999 in the “TCP” field,
and choose a name you like, and hit OK, that should do it.

Works like a charm! I’m used to my firewall appliances and wasn’t
finding the
port range dealie. Too obvious 🙂

## Thanks!
