# Problems with building nginx 1.9.11 ( with pagespeed )

Server debian jessie, and I’m using the same build script ( which does  
include 3rd party stuff ) a 1.9.10 which built flawlessly…

To get it to build at all, I had to add the option ’ -Wno-write-strings’  
to the CFLAGS in objs/Makefile, and the resultant executable resulted in  
the current config showing up

[emerg] 27021#0: unknown directive “gzip” in /etc/nginx/nginx.conf

reverting to 1.9.10 runs fine.

config is as follows:

./configure --prefix=/etc/nginx   
–sbin-path=/usr/sbin/nginx   
–conf-path=/etc/nginx/nginx.conf
