have a look at [http://uploadcolumn.rubyforge.org/](http://uploadcolumn.rubyforge.org/).
It works pretty well and is documented.

Here is some stuff on attachment\_fu:

I’ve decided that the \_fu part stands for File Upload and probably not
Kung Fu or FuBar.

If you search this newsgroup for attachment\_fu you’ll see lots of
people have questions about it. There is something that is not easy.
I’m running into trouble with the simple migration it requires.

And I can’t fix it and this group is no help (yet).

Try uploadcolumn plugin ([http://uploadcolumn.rubyforge.org/](http://uploadcolumn.rubyforge.org/)) it works
very well
(it’s very simple and powerful, I use it in production and it solved me
a big problem I had: mass loading of images from a legacy db…)

Good luck !

attachment\_fu is the successor of acts\_as\_attachment and should be
used instead of it. a\_a\_a has serious downsides, especially when it
comes to loading files in memory instead of using tempfile and being
tied to the very memory hungry rmagick. Attachment\_fu’s code is a lot
cleaner too. I’m still using a\_a\_a in some of our old apps (i had to
hack it, so i need to reimplement my changes as they are very
specific for our needs), but i plan to switch all of them over to
attachment\_fu, possibly changing the processor to imagescience if
it’s just thumbnailing that’s involved.

Best regards

I am using acts\_as\_attachment plugin and its working great.

Check it out at [http://sphred.com/profile/3-Mel-Frogley](http://sphred.com/profile/3-Mel-Frogley) or if you want
to check it thoroughly then signup first on [www.sphred.com](http://www.sphred.com) and then
try to upload/delete/update your image after logging in

I have also written a little tutorial on how to use it
