# Help - mongrel not running on windows, MissingSourceFile

I’m relatively new to RoR. I’m using InstantRails2.0 on WinXP. My app  
was working fine, until I started trying to get RMagick to work.  
During that process I updated rubygem. At that point, mongrel was  
still starting but there was a problem with RMagick. I never got an  
answer on that, so I started trying fleximage. I’m not using git so I  
manually installed fleximage according to its instructions. Now  
mongrel won’t start, with this error:

C:/ruby/lib/ruby/site\_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom\_require.rb:27:in  
`gem\_original\_require’: no such file to load – C:/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/  
1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.2-x86-mswin32/lib/mongrel/init.rb  
(MissingSourceFile)

I did ‘gem update mongrel’ and it said :

Successfully installed mongrel-1.1.5-x86-mswin32-60

I noticed the version of the one installed is later than the one in  
the mongrel error message. Is there an older version of something  
that is causing this?

the easiest thing to do is to fool it by changing the name of your  
folder C:/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.5-x86-mswin32-60 to  
C:/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.2-x86-mswin32 and it should  
work as usual
