Gettext problem

Hi,

I’m a newbie to rails and find the framework very well designed.
However, I have to develop for the French and Belgian market, wich means
the primary language is french and sometimes need i18n. I started to
evaluate ruby-gettext, as it allows me to translate rails validation
errors, including model and attribute names. I follow the tutorial at
http://manuals.rubyonrails.org/read/chapter/105, and finally solved each
problem, except one.

when I call rakeupdatepo (wich itself call GetText.update_pofiles()),
it sometimes warm me of errors (sometimes that the charset is not
defined in a header, sometimes just “parse error”). If I launch the same
command one second later, all go fine. The problem is that on each
error, my .po files are empty. The second execution recreates them wich
all the strings to translate, but of course my previous translated
strings are gone.

Can someone help me ?

Thanks in advance,

Nicolas

PS: I develop on mac os x using locomotive.

I’m sorry if I choose the bad forum. Can a moderator move the message if
necessary ?

Thanks

I suspect your po-file is something wrong.
e.g.) charset is not set.
charset and the messages in the po-file isn’t same.

If the above hints don’t help you,
show the log messages and your both of pot-file and po-file.
