# Flashed sign up and sign out messages - Devise

In following this tutorial:

When I sign up or sign out I don’t get a flash message as shown in the  
tutorial, what could be the problem here?

Hi Abder-Rahman

Keep an eye on your migration file … if you’re using User as your  
devise model. Check if these are available before running the rake

```
  t.database_authenticatable :null => false
  t.recoverable
  t.rememberable
  t.trackable

```

See to it that your application.html.erb has the following flash codes  
like.

 \<% flash.each do |name, msg| %\> \<%= content\_tag :div, msg, :id =\> "flash\_#{name}" %\> \<% end %\> \<%= content\_tag :h1, yield(:title) if show\_title? %\> \<%= yield %\>
