I am getting this following error when using file\_column with RMagick:
uninitialized constant Magick

/usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.2.5/lib/
active\_support/dependencies.rb:200:in `const_missing' ./script/../config/../vendor/plugins/rails_file_column/plugins/ file_column/branches/kyle/lib/file_column.rb:621:in `file\_column’
#{RAILS\_ROOT}/app/models/story\_entry.rb:7
./script/…/config/…/app/controllers/story\_controller.rb:13:in `index’

This error occured while loading the following files:
story\_entry.rb
magick.rb

It works fine without the :magick specification:

file\_column :image, :magick =\> { :versions =\> { “medium” =\>
“300x200\>” } }

I am running OS X Tiger, and I installed RMagick following the
instruction here:

From command line, rmagick\_test works fine.

However, it Rmagick seems to not work from file\_column. I even tried
openning up environment.rb to add require ‘RMagick’, but nothing helps.

Thank you,

Shark Fin S.

Dear all,

I solved this problem by downloading the newest stable release,
rather than using the SVN version of file\_column.

Thank you,

Sharkie

Thanks for this. It’s amazing how difficult the whole
ImageMagick/RMagick thing has been.

How could I improve the OS X installation instructions for RMagick? Post
here or email me at rmagick AT rubyforge DOT org. Thanks!
