# Eventfd() failed (38: Function not implemented)

I try to run Nginx, but i have error: eventfd() failed (38: Function  
not  
implemented)

I found this patch  
([Re: [1.8.0 stable] bug when install on old linux version](https://forum.nginx.org/read.php?29,258676,258685#REPLY))  
to 1.9.0, i cannot do diff so i do it manualy.

So i found ngx\_epoll\_init(ngx\_cycle\_t

And now my file:

static ngx\_int\_t ngx\_epoll\_init(ngx\_cycle\_t \*cycle, ngx\_msec\_t timer);  
#if (NGX\_HAVE\_EVENTFD)  
if (ngx\_epoll\_notify\_init(cycle-\>log) != NGX\_OK) {

- return NGX\_ERROR;

- ngx\_epoll\_module\_ctx.actions.notify = NULL;  
}  
#endif

But i have compiler error

src/event/modules/ngx\_epoll\_module.c:105: error: expected identifier or  
‘(’  
before ‘if’  
make[1]: \*\*\* [objs/src/event/modules/ngx\_epoll\_module.o] Error 1

Any ideas how to make it working?

Try obtaining latest nginx version instead, 1.9.10.  
It can be downloaded here:
