Including the action_mailer doesn’t change anything …

I think you may have nailed it here. I don’t see that the mailer
actually depends on the filtering behaviour.

This is probably something I am looking for. I am looking to make it a
bit more robust with custom CSS, proper field validation and
authentication from spam bots.
