# Deploying on linux shared host

Hi all,  
I am newbie in rails, my hosting agency told me that they have  
installed rails on their server and all i have to do is to upload my  
application into a folder named rails.  
I have done that, it shows the rails welcome abroad page, but it also  
tells that Rails application failed to start properly !  
I know there is something wrong, but i dont know what ?!  
Please help me ☹

Remove index.html from your public directory.

this is what i get after removal :

Application error  
Rails application failed to start properly

You should take a look at Capistrano (http://capify.org), also I

by Ezra Z., Bruce Tate, and Clinton Begin

I have never read it, It was published after my head went white

with deployments, but Ezra’s blog was the light at the end of tunnel  
regarding Rails deployment and scaling for me.

Anyway check the log/ folder, (development or production) and feel  
free to post here the Exceptions you find.

I’ve read it, definitely takes the pain out of trying to figure it out  
on your own.
