Hey everyone,

I’ve been dealing with Rails 3, Paperclip and Windows 7 for a few nights
now and don’t feel like I’m actually getting anywhere. I’ve hit config
issue after config issue and it’s a bit of a nightmare. Can anyone
recommend any other gems that will accomplish the same thing?

Thanks, Brandon

I’d recommend using a virtual machine with linux on top of windows.
Windows have many issues, try something like
[http://www.virtualrails.org/](http://www.virtualrails.org/)
. You will change something now and you will be forced to change it
again in case of the deployment on a linux server.

I think attachment\_fu is obsolete. Everyone uses Paperclip. The real
issue: why are you torturing yourself by trying to do Rails development
on Windows?

From attachment\_fu documentation:

attachment\_fu is a plugin by Rick O. (aka technoweenie \<http://
[techno-weenie.net](http://techno-weenie.net)\>) and is the successor to acts\_as\_attachment. To
get a basic run-through of its capabilities, check out Mike C.'s
tutorial [http://clarkware.com/cgi/blosxom/2007/02/24#FileUploadFu](http://clarkware.com/cgi/blosxom/2007/02/24#FileUploadFu).

If you’re uploading image files, you may have many issues with the
image libraries (ImageScience, RMagick, minimagick).

I don’t use Windows.
