Hey all,

There are a couple posts about the possibility of using Red 5 to record
audio through a user’s mic to the server, through RoR apps. I wonder:
besides Odeo (I think they’ve developed an in-house app?) are there any
examples and/or demos of this being done?

Or, are there any reasonable java sources that actually _do_ work to
take mic input from a user’s machine, and save it as a file to the
server?

Thanks!

–Dave

I wouldn’t use a browser for this. I prefer to build on the appropriate
infrastructure, which is telephony …

Try using a softphone to send the audio via VoIP to an Asterisk PBX.

You can hook that into a Rails app by integrating RAGI. See http://
[ragi.sf.net](http://ragi.sf.net) …
