There’s a malfunction in Google G.’ posting engine, afflicting an
apparently significant number of users. Full details are here:
In my case it appears an entire ISP with several thousands of users has
been blacklisted. Which I guess is not enough for Google to take action
or even notice, as the above thread was started more than a month ago,
and despite multiple, repeated attempts to contact Google reps through
every possible avenue - no response has yet been given.
Beyond the obvious disappointment from Google’s QoS, there’s no
indication that this problem - afflicting quite a few people - is going
to be fixed any time soon. So it might not be inappropriate to note
that:
-
Some RoR:Talk participants are able to continue participation in the
RoR:Talk discussion group only through the Ruby-Forum gateway. Using the
Ruby-Forum is indeed less convenient than direct posting to the group,
but more importantly - if the gateway is closed those participants will
be locked out from RoR:Talk completely. -
Newcomers, who are not aware of the problem and the Ruby-Forum
gateway, might try to post a topic to the groups, get frustrated after
repeated attempts yield no results (except the misleading “Your Message
will be Posted to the Group Momentarily” notice), and simply leave. I’ve
been in RoR:Talk for months, and pretty persistent about continuing to
participate, and it still took me days to discover what’s wrong and how
to (kind of) bypass it.
