There is an error remaining, in /lib/mkmf-gnome2.rb, line 388 :

cairo\_gem\_spec = (Gem::Specification.respond\_to?(:find\_by\_name) ?
Gem::Specification.find\_by\_name(‘cairo’) :
Gem.source\_index.find\_name(‘cairo’)).last

Gem::Specification.find\_by\_name always return one gem spec, not an
array.

We either need to use ‘last’ only on Gem.source\_index, or to to use
Gem::Specification.find\_all\_by\_name.

Sorry. These errors were my fault. I should have refactored while I
was at it (and actually checked what #find\_by\_name returned). For
some reason the code worked for me, so I don’t understand how it
slipped by (I guess my version of RubyGems only warned about
#find\_name being deprecated, but didn’t actually support
#find\_by\_name, which seems weird).
