The Support Engineering/Issue Resolution squad at Etsy is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to collaborate and lead in building excellent user experiences for buyers and sellers.
At Etsy, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve experiences between buyers and sellers. This becomes even more important when the unexpected occurs in the order process. Our mission on this squad is to make it easy to resolve older issues quickly while providing the best outcome possible when those issues arise.
On the Support Engineering squad, we believe that the work we do improves the lives of Etsy’s 81M+ buyers in a significant way. In the last 6 months, we have transformed how Etsy buyers report a problem with a transaction and receive a resolution for serious order issues. But our work is just beginning.
For the rest of the year, we’ll be focusing on improving the resolution experience for all buyers across Etsy, including a better system for buyers and sellers to self-resolve order issues. This position is an excellent opportunity to make a big impact on a new team at Etsy!

This role is (eventually) located in one of our Brooklyn or San Francisco offices, or remote within the US and Canada. We’re also open to remote hires within all U.S. states except Hawaii and Alaska.
About the Role
As a senior software engineer at Etsy, you will:
Demonstrate leadership on every project, whether as a tech-lead or a contributor.
Utilize Grafana, ELK, and our in-house analytics tools to capture information and gain insights to help the team iterate.
Mentor and coach other engineers on your team and across the company to help them succeed.
Participate in the blameless culture at Etsy that allows us to learn from our mistakes.
Collaborate with our multi-functional teams and business partners at Etsy, as well as product managers and designers within the team.
You will do well in this role if you:
Write understandable, testable code with an eye for maintainability and scalability. You also document your work clearly and concisely.
Have experience working within a large codebase and strive to create simplicity from complex systems. You generally leave things in nicer shape than you found them.
Love to experiment and use data to drive decision-making and problem-solving. Experience with A/B testing is a plus!
Are a strong communicator and are willing to take on a mentoring role with teammates and peers.
Are comfortable working as a unit on a multi-functional product team with Product Managers, Designers, Researchers, and Data Analysts.
