As Senior Shopify Developer at Monumental, you are a lynchpin to achieving our clients' objectives through development. You love employing the latest and greatest from the w3 spec, and build systems that simplify and enhance. You bring our collective strategies, concepts, and one-dimensional designs to life.

The ratio of responsibilities for Senior Shopify Developer is:
75% hands-on development.
15% team management and community engagement.
10% helping to define and improve our offerings, perspectives, processes and toolsets.
Collaborating with the Project Manager to estimate tasks and create feasible deadlines.
Reviewing design handoff files, asking clarifying questions, and reviewing Statements of Work and technical requirements well in advance of beginning development.
Tackling everything from minor adjustments to existing code, to building out an entirely new theme, feature, integration, app, or script.
Collaborating with the Technical Director to manage our development workflow, always looking to automate or otherwise streamline and standardize to improve our processes.
Attending and contributing to client meetings and communication within your realm of expertise.
Helping to manage Junior Developers or Interns, expanding their understanding of development.
Following best-practices for accessibility, testing and debugging code and the resulting experience, optimizing code for speed and scalability.
Assessing the feasibility of designs and weighing technical requirements to ensure that we can deliver on what's promised, and informing, conceptualizing, and collaborating with designers to create a better ecommerce experience for all.
Keeping your finger on the pulse of Shopify development best-practices and becoming involved in the Shopify Partner community.
Contributing to the development of our in-house toolsets, such as our skeleton Shopify theme, private apps and scripts, development frameworks, etc.
Contributing to the maintenance of our existing Shopify apps and conceptualizing and building new ones.
Keeping up with the latest development approaches and trends (not fads).
2-3 yrs. in a Sr. Shopify Development role, or equivalent.
Use modern build processes like webpack and gulp.
Use GitHub as a part of your everyday workflow.
Have a responsive, mobile-first development mindset.
Attention to detail and a keen eye for excellent customer experience concepts and designs.
Able to operate Figma as part of design - dev handoff.
Adept at explaining technical stuff in layman's terms to non-developers.
Able to follow site optimization and performance best practices (accessibility, SEO, speed).
Able to test and reconcile cross-browser compatibility issues.
Able to balance multiple projects at a time, ensuring quality and timeliness across your tasks.
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight, able to take ownership of projects.
Must use a Mac, using shortcuts and time-saving apps to streamline your process.
Speak and write clearly.
Agency or freelance experience contributing to projects from start to finish.
Experience working remotely.
Experience with Shopify APIs (Admin, Storefront, and AJAX).
Experience with Shopify JS Buy SDK.
Experience with React, GraphQL, Ruby.
Experience with AWS/GCP.
Experience with ARIA/accessibility attributes.
Experience meeting accessibility guidelines in development.
