Job Overview

We're hiring our first ever recruiter! We raised a Series A this year and are starting to scale quite a bit across almost all of our teams, so we're hiring someone full-time to help manage our hiring plans, tools, and processes.

Sora believes candidate experience is a crucial part of employee experience (which is the entire subject of our mission). We should prepare candidates for their interviews and overall interview processes the way we would prepare employees to meet their goals, and do away with the information asymmetry that is far too common in traditional recruiting processes. Every interview process should have a detailed rubric that allows our team to be as objective as possible and evaluate candidates only on the tactical things they will need to be successful in their roles. We should be extremely authentic in all of our interactions with candidates, including sharing what's not going so well at Sora. In short, every single candidate that interfaces with Sora should have an amazing experience with us.

Your Impact and Responsibilities

You'll build and own our entire hiring process, including:

  • Planning

    • We'll be hiring on an ongoing basis for our Engineering and Solutions Engineering teams, and will hire as-needed in Sales, Marketing, Design, etc. You'll be involved in helping hiring managers and the entire company come up with hiring plans that align with business objectives, budget, etc.

    • Attracting

      • You'll build creative sourcing strategies for hard to fill roles, ensure we are attracting a diverse candidate pool, and work cross-functionally on building our employer brand.

      • Evaluating

        • You'll work with hiring managers to ensure alignment on goals and interview processes for a given role (providing guidelines on impact-driven and inclusive job descriptions, creating scorecards to reduce bias, etc.), source candidates for those roles and calibrate them with hiring managers, perform initial screens, and help candidates prepare for and move through interview processes.

        • Closing

          • You'll create helpful practices with a candidate-first mentality (no exploding offers, helping demystify equity and other pieces of an offer, etc.) and work with authenticity to close the best candidates.

          • Supporting

            • Sora's product is centered around employee experience at critical lifecycle moments, and onboarding is one of the most important. You'll work with our Operations Generalist and our CEO to create a seamless handoff to the most amazing onboarding experience an employee has ever seen!

              As part of this work, you'll own our Applicant Tracking System setup and maintenance, and you'll be able to shape our processes to be as inclusive as possible as we scale, setting the groundwork for our entire culture moving forward!

              We’re looking for someone who has:

              • A serious passion (read: borderline obsession) for diversity, equity and inclusion best practices in hiring

              • Several years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience

              • Experience building creative sourcing strategies for hard to fill roles

              • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

              • A willingness to look at everything we do and constantly work to improve it
