About Stellar Health:
Historically, US Healthcare has relied on a fee-for-service reimbursement system where providers are paid based on the quantity of patient visits and procedures instead of the quality of health outcomes. Stellar Health helps primary care providers continually engage with their patients by providing them real-time information and tangible action-based incentives for improving quality of care for their patients.
At Stellar Health, we’re simplifying value-based care. The Stellar platform, a cloud-based, point-of-care tool, fits into existing provider workflows and creates a simple checklist of recommended actions that helps deliver the best quality care for patients. We’re building our technology from the ground up, and the industry is starting to take notice.
Our product actively supports over 500K patient lives - and we have shown that we make a real difference for these practices and their patients. It’s an exciting time to join the Stellar Team: We recently raised a $60M Series B at a $460M valuation from Top VCs in the health-tech space (General Atlantic, Point72, & Primary Venture Partners), have an established product & proven operating model, and we’re scaling our team to meet the continued growth and impact on our healthcare system.
Our engineering team grew substantially in 2020/2021 and we rolled out infrastructure updates, new features, and updates to existing workflows. We also grew the size of our team, bringing in new engineering and product talent. As our team continues to grow we are looking for an Engineering Manager who can balance both people management and technical contributions.
Stellar engineering is a small team, meaning each and every team member has the opportunity to work on features and processes that directly impact a patient’s health. An Engineering Manager should be comfortable managing high performers and motivating direct reports to take high ownership and accountability for their work, while setting an example of the team by also contributing direct hands-on work from time to time.
Our team offers an experienced and mature engineering culture, product development best practices, and an environment where every single engineer has a direct impact on the success of our business.
The Payments Team:
Stellar Health is looking for an engineering manager to kickstart a new team focused on Payments!
Payments are core to Stellar’s business model and workflows – we motivate practices via monetary rewards for closing care gaps, and this team will own the associated data models and infrastructure.
The Payments team will deliver an industry-leading payment experience leveraging technology built by our world class engineering team, vendor partnerships, and cutting edge data science. This candidate will have the opportunity to own a critical piece of the product & technical roadmap, shape our Engineering culture, and ultimately drive a meaningful impact on patient care.
This candidate will report to the Engineering Director of our Platform organization.
Who will love this job:
You are enthusiastic about playing a pivotal role in getting accurate and timely payments to clinicians and practice staff for the high-value work they do.
You are excited about standing up a brand new squad at Stellar, including crafting the vision, charter, and roadmap and working closely with a product and wider cross-functional team.
You love building platform-level solutions that unlock significant business value for other teams and customers.
You thrive in servant leadership roles and want to support your direct reports.
You have the ability to wear many hats and no job is too small for you.
You get things done and you love working in a dynamic environment; we move quickly and we need a teammate who will too.
You understand, appreciate, and enjoy the responsibility and accountability that comes with being assigned high-level ownership over projects and their success.
You have a knack for explaining technical processes concisely (even to non-engineers), and work well with cross-functional internal teams.
What you’ll do:
Hire and manage a team of world-class engineers
Be hands on technically – reviewing design documents for the team, instilling best practices via code reviews, and personally contributing to the codebase
Help establish a new team, defining its charter, scope and goals
Work cross functionally (with PM, Ops, Finance and others) to build payments infrastructure, product features and integrations with 3p systems that process payments for hundreds of partners who care for 1M+ patients
Contribute to a strong engineering culture via presentations, participation in demos, retreats, and more!
You should have:
Previous experience leading and managing cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
Python experience or experience with other backend languages (Java / C++ / Go / Ruby) and a desire to learn.
A strong sense of accountability; you take pride in what you build and want it to be useful for others on your team
A strong desire to mentor direct reports, and help them develop in their careers

We offer a full slate of benefits, including competitive salaries, stock options, medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverages, a 401k program and flexible vacation.
