Hopefully David will forgive me for speaking for him, but I think he
was trying to get across two points with that slide:

  1. If a ‘Fuck You’ slide offends you, perhaps you’re at the wrong
    conference.
  2. Rails isn’t PHP 7 or J2EE 6.0. It’s not the next new thing, but
    rather a disruptive shift in how application development works.

nonsense. TCL/Tk, QT, Delphi, and even Cocoa developers have long
enjoyed developing an entire GUI app from a single cohesive language and
API. something like this for the web was long overdue. i call them the
gluemasters (but not ordinary elmer’s rubber cement, more like some
imported italian glue from organic wagyu cow hooves…
