Ok, it looks like what I need to do is use a delegate
template, but I can't find anything anywhere online.
Has anyone ever used this feature before and could
possibly explain it to me please?

Could you provide a bit more details about what you are looking for?

If you are looking for how to add new template type (in addition to
rhtml and rxml) you can look at Markaby
(http://markaby.rubyforge.org/) or Rcss (http://rcss.rubyforge.org/)
sources.
