Install to Site5

is there any way to install a RoR application to Site5 (or any other
host for that matter) that doesn’t require shell access. It would be
nice, for simplicity sake, to be able to upload an application edit a
.htaccess (or something) and have the application just run.

[ it doesn’t really matter if there is no way to do this. its just
that I’m trying to test my apps on a friends hosting before i go to
the trouble of organizing my own]

I know that my biz partner spent a while debugging an app he tried to
deploy via ftp because it didn’t take the .htaccess.

I’d say set it up on your local host or devel box, zip or tar/gzip it
up, put it on the server, and decompress it. you might have to tweak
your config repeatedly and you might have issues if you’re using a
variety of gems (freeze the gems and/or rails itself into the vendor
folder).
