We are a small web design and development firm in need of Ruby on Rails
developers on a part-time, contract basis for a variety of fast-paced
and exciting projects, both proprietary and client facing. The work
begins in January and takes place on-site in our SoHo office, some
telecommuting may be ok. A full-time position is possible.

You must be able to:

- Understand and apply general computer science logic and principals,
especially MVC and OO
- Read and write clean, efficient, DRY and well-commented RoR code
- Prepare and execute unit and functional tests
- Work with a MySQL (PostgreSQL a plus) database and write SQL queries
- Navigate a *nix operating system
- Check-in and check-out code from an SVN repository
- Have your own RoR development environment
- Understand generally deployment of Rails apps
(Apache/Lighttpd/FastCGI)
- Understand valid XHTML and CSS layout techniques and hierarchy
- Work independently in a flexible and iterative manner, with only
general requirements
