Forum: NGINX deamon off option is not recognized

hello,

I wrote nginx.conf first line.

deamon off;

but  demon off option is not recognized why?
my  nginx version: nginx/1.2.1

please help me

# /usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx -c /usr/local/nginx/conf/nginx.conf
nginx: [emerg] unknown directive "deamon" in
/usr/local/nginx/conf/nginx.conf:1
