Hi Mathieu,
I'm pretty sure I followed the install instructions exactly but I get:

C:\ruby\nihongobenkyo>ruby c:/ruby/bin/nihongobenkyo
Can't load nihongobenkyo/import

Any suggestions?

This message is just displayed for information. It should not prevent
the program from starting... Does Nihongo Benkyo start or does it stop
after this message is displayed? If it stops, are there other messages

nihongobenkyo/import is an optional extension that allows you to import
new dictionary files in your Nihongo Benkyo database by yourself. It's
not available for Windows yet. So this message is normal.

Currently, Windows users must download the predefined database
available at This database contains JMDict (english
and french) and Kanjidic2 (english).

oh, okay I guess it's working then. I was confused because there was
nothing showing in either of the panes. I don't really understand how
this program is supposed to help me learn japanese, I thought it would
quiz me or something

Well, you know, it's already supposed to help you understand japanese.
It's actually a dictionary (but for that, you need to download the
database) and will be a learning tool as of version 0.5 (according to
the roadmap here*checkout...).
