Forum: Ruby-Gnome 2 Moving the repository and issue tracker to GitHub

Hi!

I would like to move the repository and issue tracker to GitHub.

Kouhei, what would it take to perform such a move?

I am willing to spend some time on this task, but I need to know what
you, as project manager, think needs to be done.

I will also need access to the ruby-gnome2 group at GitHub.

I agree with only 'moving the repository to GitHub'.
We keep to use other resources on SF.net.

We keep to open the issue tracker on SF.net. (It seens that
the issue tracker on SF.net is watched just by me...)
We also accept reports in the issue tracker on GitHub. Users
just get an option.


Background:

I disagreed with moving to GitHub a few years ago because we
don't have good release system. And anyone didn't work about
it. It meaned that we never release any new version. A few
people and I worked about release system. Now, we can
release Ruby-GNOME2 as gems easily and we could release
1.0.0 :-).

If we move only the repository, we will be able to keep
releasing and developing. This is why I agree with moving to
GitHub now. If you want to move other resouces to GitHub, I
will disagree becasue we can't release any new version.

We need to migrate Subversion repository to git repository
with all author info. (We need to prepare authors file for
svn2git.)

Please migrate the repository type.

I will look into this and creating an authors file.

I guess we need to set a date as well.  I can work on this today and 
tomorrow.

Would it work with everyone if I prepare as much as possible today and
perform the actual conversion tomorrow?

Out of curiosity, why not then use git on sf.net if all the other
resources remain there?
