Hi everyone -

I wanted to let you all know about Social Actions' Change the Web
Challenge, a contest for creating new web applications & widgets that
promote opportunities to take action all over the web, with cash

1st place: $5,000
2nd place: $3,000
3rd place: $2,000

Social Actions has created an open API of over 60,000 opportunities to
make a difference from 50+ sources including,,
VolunteerMatch, and It would be awesome if you wanted to
submit apps that draw on Social Actions' database and help people
connect to ways to take action. Interested?

Hey everyone, Wanted to build on Emily's announcement about the Change
the Web deadline:

** What do you think about a RoR plugin, where any ROR powered website
could easily add ways to take action to their site? **

Eric Cooper built a similar plugin for WordPress and it's been
tremendously successful, 2,000+ downloads! (

While not a judge, I think Ruby modules that mashed up Social Actions
API ( would make for great submissions (and
could have a big impact!)
