Nginx Forum Open Again

Subject: Nginx Forum Open Again
Author: Jim O.

Hello Everyone,

Having taken into consideration all that was said previously, we took
the forum offline and did some tweaking.

As of now all outgoing mails should have the requested headers so they
will be properly sorted by MUA’s. All posts to the list are being posted
to the forum, albeit with some charset issues that should not impact the
list. We have been testing this functionality for several days. Taking
it live with two way communication may produce some unanticipated issues
though I have done a lot of testing to ensure that it does not.
Attachments are supposed to work on messages inbound to the forum.
Currently that is an issue and is being addressed. My workaround is to
upload them myself but that hopefully will be temporary. Attachments
outbound to the list do not work. Our workaround will be to post them to
an accessible URL for download.

In addition to the forum attached to the mailing list there are other
forums (or fora for you purists) for discussions that are better left
off the list.

Additionally we have created some non-English forums that have been
requested and we are willing to have others should they be desired.

Once again I ask for your patience should there be any hiccups along the
way.

Thanks again to Igor for use of his domain name.

Come visit us at http://forum.nginx.org/.

Jim, thank you. I like the new forum’s linking to the list.

Hello!

Thank you, it looks much better now.

Two minor notes:

  1. For some reason it duplicates ‘Subject’ header in message body,
and also writes ‘Author’ there (with information duplicated from
    ‘From’ header). See quoting above.

  2. It doesn’t wrap long lines properly (again, see quoting above).

But I think we can live with this for a while.

Again, thank you for your work!

Maxim D.

Thank you Igor.

We are seeing some issue with posting delays. I don’t know if it’s that
you are moderating new members, but the email that I am using for the
list has a long delay in posting.

An earlier message, not in this thread, had the following in the
headers:

Received: from mailrelay1.rambler.ru ([81.19.66.239]) by ontico.ru with

In essence there was a 5+ hour hold on it, from 02:53 to 08:17 your
time.

Is there something that can be done about that?

Thanks,

Jim

The address nginx-list forum.nginx.org was not subscribed, therefore
it was bounced to me. In the morning I have added it to the write-only
list
and have rebounced it.

I can work on this. It should be a quick fix.

  1. It doesn’t wrap long lines properly (again, see
    quoting above).

It only does this in a post itself (like this line). The quote function
wraps properly, I will look into this as well.

But I think we can live with this for a while.

Again, thank you for your work!

Maxim D.

Thank you.

Igor, do you think we can get a link on http://nginx.net?

It’s already done. Feel free to correct my English.

Your statements are clear enough, but I would propose these alterations
for improved clarity:

“One of English mailling list archives.” → “An nginx English mailing
list archive.”
(Note the spelling of mailing with one L.)

“Otherwise you may read and write to the list via forum.nginx.org.” →
“You may also read and write to the list at forum.nginx.org.”

Sorry to be nit-picky, but you did ask.

Chaz

Or make it easily spelled out:

Something like:

English Resources:

  • Mailing list: link to the ML page [is it still on the wiki?] (with forum integration)
  • Forums: http://forums.nginx.org (with mailing list integration)
  • Wiki: http://wiki.nginx.org
and of course <a href'ize them

Thank you, I have done so.
