              I get these strange error messages no matter which program i run. 
What is wrong and how do I get it working.

              Is it possible you are running 0.15? (The default 
ubuntu package at the mo.) Try upgrading to 0.16 if 
so.

Yes, I am running the ubuntu 0.15 package from the standard repository. 
How do I upgrade to  0.16?
